Super Blocks

Barcelona’s Superblocks, or “Superilles” in Catalan, represent a pioneering approach to urban planning that reimagines how city spaces are utilized. First introduced in 2016, this innovative concept seeks to address the challenges of congestion, pollution, and the lack of public space in urban environments. The idea was born out of the city’s need to create more livable, sustainable neighbourhoods that prioritize people over cars. Super Blocks Parklets takes this design philosophy and embodies its ethos of multifunctionality, our Super Blocks parklets are designed as a modular platform for streets. They may be configured and reconfigured in many variations and formats which allow for various uses, seasonal and temporary installations or as spaces that serve a variety of purposes in the community and street they are installed in.
