Our journey into designing products for public spaces began in 2014 when we set out to build kiosks for food markets on undeveloped lands in Vancouver using upcycled materials, to provide vendor spaces for emerging entrepreneurs. This spawned over a decade of work creating markets, vendor spaces, kiosks, pop-ups and parklets with our product line Hawkers.
Fascinated and obsessed with street culture and urban art from our humble beginnings as tactical urbanists running (underground) markets we launched a new line of adaptive street furniture City Blocks. City Blocks designs and manufactures modular street furniture that enhance and democratize public spaces. We build parklets, loungers and modular seating as well as placemaking products designed to create urban space for all.
